A competition held at Abzorb to name its new £500,000 I.T. platform has ensured the company’s history will live on.
The internal competition to name the system was won by Sarah Gibson from the accounts department who created the name Provida.
The ‘Pro’ part of the name acknowledges Abzorb’s founding name Protocall, ‘vi’ recognises Vitel Systems and Vitel Networks, and ‘da’ represents data, which the system stores and processes.
Abzorb’s Managing Director, Steve Beeby, said: “We have invested a lot of time, money and energy into the platform and wanted to christen it with a name that was catchy but also purposeful, which is exactly what Provida is.
“We have a strong belief in engaging our staff in shaping the company and we received a lot of really clever and interesting names from the competition, but ultimately Sarah’s was chosen because it reflects our history and also the future which the Provida system represents.”
The platform, which was developed in-house by IT manager Ben Sugden over 18 months to specifically meet Abzorb’s requirements, was introduced in April and will continue evolve to meet the company’s needs.
Provida is able to control and monitor stock, accounts and provisioning, assist customer care and relations, and will eventually incorporate client billing.
The long-term development of the system will also allow customers to log-in and order products online and make it easier for staff to manage enquiries and take orders.
An automated service will enable clients to track their orders throughout the buying process and make Abzorb an even more efficient company.
