Abzorb's Great Run

Posted 8 years ago

A team from Abzorb took on the world’s biggest half marathon, the Great North Run on Sunday 7th September 2014.

The team successfully completed the 13.1 miles from Newcastle, across the Tyne Bridge, to South Shields to help raise money for Candle Lighters, a children's cancer charity based in Yorkshire.

The team comprised of Andy Norris, Steve Beeby, Kieran Thorpe, Katie Byrne, Josh Walwyn, Ryan Dransfield and Liz Watson. Liz is a Great North Run veteran - she took on the challenge in 2013 in support of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Despite aches & pains and pins & needles, the team persevered and all reached the finished line, achieving an average running time of just over 2 hours.

A special mention, however, goes to Ryan Dransfield, who helped the average significantly by completing the run in an impressive time of 01:25:05, took the 380th position out of approximately 57,000 runners!

The current total raised is just over £850. Thanks to everyone who has donated so far.

If you haven't already, you can still make a donation. Our JustGiving page will carry on accepting donations until 07/12/2014. http://www.justgiving.com/Abzorb
